Fouch Building and Remodeling
Whole House Remodel
A house circa 1906 has special challenges. It won’t be square, probably hasn’t been treated kindly, and the foundation most likely needs work. This one came complete with a pink kitchen and aqua bathroom. However, the right architecture, design and construction not only overcame these challenges, the results are stunning.
In this “to the studs” project, Fouch Building & Remodeling, Z3 Design Studio, and Guy Altman Architecture transformed this house into a home perfect for entertaining and family life. From exterior to interior, basement to roof, no detail was left untouched. The basement was hand dug (for future use) and the foundation reinforced. New windows, heating, electrical and plumbing improved the home’s energy efficiency. A welcoming front porch and back deck with radius stairs give the exterior charm while an addition and shed dormer provided needed interior space.
The interior combines historic details with modern amenities in a warm color palette. New columns and pilasters add visual distinction between living spaces. Period trim and picture rail combine with low voltage lighting to highlight artwork. A laundry room and pantry were added adjacent to a light-filled kitchen where period cabinetry marries beautifully with granite countertops and professional appliances. The attic is now a master suite with spectacular bath that highlights duality – a two person shower, two person jetted tub, two sinks and closets – truly making it a ‘his’ and ‘hers’ retreat.
